8 Effective ways to boost your metabolism!

1) Add some lean muscle-Muscle is active tissue and those with lean muscle mass burn more calories throughout the day.

2) Drink cold water- By having cold water your body will have to work extra to heat it up.

3) Eat the following-Calcium, curry, green tea, grapefruit, oatmeal, coffee, almonds, blueberries, ginger, beans and cinnamon have all been linked to improve metabolism.

4) Lower the temperature in your home or apartment-Your body will need to work harder to maintain its internal temperature.

5) Watch your alcohol-Alcohol limits your body's ability to burn fat.

6) Do interval based cardio-Just like weight training you will burn more calories and boost your metabolism.

7) Eat when you wake up-Research shows you eat breakfast and you will eat less and burn more.

8) Morning quick jolt-Try waking up and doing 25 jumping jacks and 25 jackkives ( burpees ) before you head out the door just to get your metabolism jacked up.

  1. Great tips. I adopted several of these about 18 months ago, and the weight melted without a significant caloric decrease in diet (45 lbs over 4 months). I did cut out ice cream and replaced with 2% Fage yogurt with blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. I then would add a little raspberry jam to sweeten.

But the best tip I received from my friend who is Personal Trainer is to break my meals up and to get 8 hours of sleep. Now I munch on food about 6 times a day including right when I get out of bed before working out. Plus I am disciplined about sleep even if it means going to bed early! That really helped do the trick to boost metabolism.

  2. 45lbs over 4 months is amazing! Yogurt for ice cream is an obvious better choice haha. Sleep is when the body recovers and repairs. Thanks for the comment.

  3. Hey - nice blog, just looking around some blogs, seems a pretty nice platform you are using. I'm currently using Wordpress for a few of my sites but looking to change one of them over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would recommend about it?
